The Delhi government’s Cabinet on Tuesday confirmed that a detailed and final response on the findings of the Shunglu Committee related to the Commonwealth Games irregularities has been prepared.
The final report will be dispatched to the home ministry and the Prime Minister Office (PMO) after a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, stated a senior Delhi government official.
“We have prepared a final report in response to the Shunglu Committee findings. It is a paragraph-wise reply to every allegation. Our report is ready to be dispatched to the home ministry,” said a Delhi government official.
The home ministry, which has sent the report of the Shunglu Committee to the Delhi government, the Delhi Development Authority and New Delhi Municipal Council had asked the Delhi government to explain their position on the findings of the panel.
However, the city government, which has termed the findings of the panel as a “product of paranoia,” had sent a brief report to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in April, trashing the report.
Earlier in the brief report, the city government had instead accused the Shunglu panel of deliberately choosing to adopt a logic of “convenience” in finding corruption in every policy and every tender of the government.
The Shunglu Committee has so far submitted six reports on broadcasting, Games Village, city infrastructure, Games venues, Organising Committee and the main report — organisation and conduct of CWG 2010.
The report on city infrastructure was referred to the home ministry by the PMO for appropriate action on the queries raised by the Shunglu panel in works done by the Delhi government-controlled departments. The administration of Delhi, being the Union Territory, comes under the control of home ministry.
