Kalki Koechlin may be a part of the film fraternity, but she certainly doesn’t buy into the gossip mill that is a part of it. She recently opened up about just what she did when husband Anurag Kashay tried to explain his role in the Dibankar Banerjee-Payal Rohatgi fiasco. “I asked him to shut up,” says Kalki with a smile.
To rewind, starlet Payal Rohatgi had accused Love, Sex Aur Dhoka director Dibankar Banerjee of sexual exploitation. Dibankar of course refuted the allegation and Anurag rushed to his friend’s defence. It all backfired however, with Payal making some unsavoury remarks about Kalki, then Anurag’s girlfriend.
But Kalki wasn’t looking for any explanations. “I was in the UK when all this mayhem was taking place in Mumbai,” she recounts. “And there Anurag was, giving me long-winded explanations over the phone. I had to ask him to shut up because I had no intention of inflating my phone bills because of some trivial issues.”
That’s remarkably levelheaded, but that’s Kalki for you. She adds, “I never get involved in these things. I neither follow what’s happening on Page 3 nor Twitter. Sometimes, the stories you read are so opinionated. I’d rather form my own opinions.” Well said Kalki!
