QIs the Kya Kool Hai Hum sequel is finally off the ground?
Yes. And this time around I would like to bring some maturity to the role. When I did it, I was new; but now when I see the film, I often go ‘Arrey yeh main kya kar raha hoon?’ In fact, I don’t see my films beyond their trials. When I see myself on TV, I change the channel. I can’t bear myself; don’t know how the audience bears me.
Q You are identified with comedy. Any plans of leaving the genre?
I did; but I was pushed back into it. I did Rann … no one went to see it. I did Aladdin … no one bothered about it. I did four different films and none of them worked till finally Housefull succeeded.
Q Do you want to do an action film?
With an action film, you need a good director who can visualise you in a certain light. The last action film I was offered was Cash.
Q When will we see you in a solo hero film?
I did Rann, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai but no one went to see it; koi jaata toh I would have done more. I believe in not opening the bonnet of a moving car. There is a right time for every film. If I were Salman Khan, I would have done a solo film everyday.
