The Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly. Prof. V.K. Malhotra on Monday criticised “indifferent” approach of Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and her Cabinet for not visiting the injured of the Ramlila Ground, who are being treated in the city hospitals.
“Delhi chief minister has not uttered one word of sympathy or in support of the hundreds of people who were maltreated in the capital. She has not even bothered to know about the conditions of those injured or said a word on treatment of women in this episode,” said Prof. Malhotra in a statement.
The senior BJP leader also said that Raj Bala of Haryana has had her neck broken and she is fighting for her life. “Hundreds of people have been injured in these attacks and many of these are admitted to various hospitals and have taken refuge in Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Udasin Ashram in Jhandewalan and other such places,” added Prof. Malhotra.
He also said that thousands have lost their belongings and are having difficulty finding their way back to their residence. In spite of all this, neither the chief minister nor a single minister of the Delhi government has uttered a word of sympathy or attempted to assist these satyagrahis, charged Prof. Malhotra.
The senior BJP leader also claimed that none of the Cabinet members has even gone to the hospitals to enquire about their condition, and neither has a single MP from Delhi shown the sensitivity to make a visit. “It is clear from this behaviour that the police action was a deliberate and planned attack in which the Delhi government colluded with the Central government in totality,” charged Prof. Malhotra.
He also alleged that there have still not been any attempt at providing emergency services to the injured by the Delhi government and “instead it has now come to light that hospitals are being pressured to release the injured earlier than is medically appropriate”.
