Three members of a family were attacked by a group of alleged drug addicts in Connaught Place area on Wednesday night. One person died in the incident while two were critically injured.
The incident occurred near Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place at 11 pm on Wednesday when five persons stabbed Tatia, 40, his wife Lachhi, 34, and their son Manoj.
The police said that this might be an incident of personal rivalry. The police has arrested all the five accused.
“The deceased lived near the Hanuman Temple and Tatia is a balloon vendor. During the interrogation, the accused said that the deceased was in the business of selling smack and they were regular users. Recently, they brought some smack from him which they later found to be fake. On Wednesday night they asked Tatia to return their money but he refused to do so. Then they stabbed him with surgical blades and knives. Tatia’s son and his wife got injured when they tried to save him,” said a police officer adding that the allegation of the accused that the deceased was in the business of banned drugs is being investigated.
Tatia died on the spot while Lachhi and Manoj are in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at the RML Hospital .
