Sadiq Batcha murder: CBI using third degree method to probe?

According to some witnesses who were questioned by the CBI in connection with the probe into the death of Sadiq Batcha, a close aide of jailed former Union communications and IT minister A. Raja, interrogators used third degree methods while questioning them.

However, senior CBI officials strongly denied the allegation when DC brought it to their notice. “They are trying to distract attention by raising baseless allegations,” one official said.

It appears they don’t want to co-operate with the probe and that is why they are spreading such baseless allegations, he added.

“I never expected them to beat us up so badly when they called me for taking my statement. The CBI is not known for using such methods,” lamented one witness who was questioned by the CBI.

Sadiq Batcha, who was interrogated by CBI in connection with the 2G scam probe, was found dead in his house in Teynampet on March 16. His family claimed he committed suicide and his body was found hanging from the ceiling in his home in Teynampet.

The Chennai police initially registered a case of unnatural death under the section 174 of IPC and the case was later transferred to CBI.

Batcha’s wife said she had gone to school to bring her children home in the afternoon and when she returned she found his bedroom locked from inside.

When he failed to respond to repeated knocking, she opened the door with the help of drivers and found her husband dead.
