The agitation for a separate state of Telangana would continue as per the people's wishes and ideas of the Congress high command, Andhra Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister K Jana Reddy said on Thursday.
"We will continue the separate Telangana stir in a step by step manner, as per people's wishes, taking their opinions and becoming a part of high command’s thoughts," Reddy told reporters here after he and other leaders from the state including K Keshav Rao returned from Delhi.
Asserting that there will be no compromise on the Telangana issue, Rao said it was the first and last goal for party leaders from the region. Jana Reddy, Rao and other leaders held discussions with Pranab Mukherjee, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ahmed Patel.
The meetings took place after the en masse resignations of MPs, MLAs and MLCs from Telangana in support of the long-pending statehood demand.
The leaders had a meeting with Mukherjee on Tuesday night and appealed that the Centre and the party high command fix a ‘timeframe’ for the creation of the new state.
"Give us a timeframe. Be it six months, three months or two months," Rao said in the national capital.
