Four-year-old Ashish spent hours with his father Sharvan’s dead body on the railway tracks on Saturday night as both fell off the Malani Express between Jodhpur and Merta stations. A railway employee noticed the boy while passing through the tracks on Sunday morning and informed the police.
According to the police, both Sharvan and his son fell down from the train at a deserted place and Sharvan died instantly while the boy sustained injuries. The boy thought that his father was alive but unconscious. The boy wept for hours near the tracks but nobody was there to hear him.
The police said Sharvan boarded the train from Jodhpur with his son on Saturday night and were heading for their village Pithawas under Jaipur district.
According to the police, when the train was moving at a fast speed near Merta station, both of them fell down from the train.
A railway point-man found the boy sitting with his father’s body early on Sunday morning and immediately informed the police. The police recovered a broken mobile phone and reached the victim’s family by using the SIM of the mobile.
The point-man told the police it was heart rending to see a boy sitting with the body and weeping.
The police took Ashish to Ajmer where he was admitted to a government hospital.
The police has informed the deceased’s family. His family said both were coming from Ramdevra after a pilgrimage.
