A team of the National Investigating Agency visited all the three blast sites in the city gathered evidence on Thursday.
After the three explosions — Zaveri Bazaar, Opera House and Dadar — the NIA team was rushed to the city for helping the Mumbai police in gathering evidence.
The team headed by inspector-general Sanjeev Singh visited all the three blast sites.
“It is too premature to say anything about the blast, it will take two to three days to come to any kind of conclusion,” Mr Singh said.
He also said that a timer has been recovered from the Zaveri Bazaar site. “The timer, which was found on one of the dead bodies, could have gotten stuck due to the impact of the blast,” Mr Singh said.
However, the National Investigating Agency team has expressed concern over the protection of evidence. Mr Singh said, “Due to incessant rains, evidence has got washed away, but still we are hopeful to make the most of what we have got,” Mr Singh said.
Moreover, an officer from the Mumbai police said, “The National Investigating Agency team also spoke to eyewitnesses and gathered information.”
According to the Mumbai police, the NIA team is at present assisting the Anti-Terrorism Squad. “Various central agencies including NIA is assisting us,” said Rakesh Maria, chief of ATS.
After the NIA team’s visit, the three blast sites were sanitised, as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi were to visit later in the evening.
