Another actress is going the de-glam way, and it’s Kareena Kapoor for her upcoming film Bodyguard. Bebo had recently mentioned that unlike her earlier outings in films like Tashan, Bodyguard would have no “skin show”. Now the makers of Bodyguard have come forward to say that Kareena will be seen as a Plain Jane in the movie. And in this, the inspiration may have been another character played by Bebo — Jab We Met’s Geet.
“Despite the fact that Kareena has acted in glamorous moneyspinnners like the Golmaal films and 3 Idiots, she is still remembered as the simple, headstrong girl from Jab We Met,” says a unit member. “So when it was time to shape her role for Bodyguard, the reference points were clear.”
Director Atul Agnihotri, on the other hand, says Kareena will top her Jab We Met role with her Bodyguard turn. “When you see the film, you will realise just how performance oriented her role is. No lesser actress could have ever played such a character. I guess it’s the Kapoor lineage coming into play.”
