Saif Ali Khan’s penchant for the six strings is well known, but unlike most guitarists, who are brought up on a diet of hard rock, the Chhote Nawab is more of a blues and jazz person.
At a recent promotional event for his upcoming film Aarakshan the actor regaled a group of college students with his strumming skills. “I don’t like heavy metal; I prefer jazz and blues and I like rock and roll too,” said Saif. He recalled the time when he first tried to impress a girl by playing a song for her. “There was a song called Black Night that I used to love then. I bought the record and picked up the notes on the guitar — just to impress her,” he said.
Saif, who plays a Math teacher in Aarakshan, can’t stop smiling at the irony. “It was a subject in which I used to fail repeatedly! Actually I wasn’t a committed student. I had to work very hard to fare well in studies.”
