Europe is the only word that inevitably comes to my mind when the holiday buzz starts echoing at home. The entire continent is a traveller’s delight and I must say, once is certainly not enough.
For me, the word holiday translates to — “the best of family time.” Fortunately, my husband too is fond of a European holiday. Another important reason is, travelling around Europe is hassle-free and absolutely comfortable, and these factors go well for our son, who has just turned five.
The scenic beauty of Europe leaves everyone mesmerised, the continent is a rich tapestry of art and culture. In fact, now Europe is generally perceived as a country rather than a continent, yet each country exudes a distinct charm that leaves visitors spellbound. They differ in language, landscape and a lot more. It is so alluring and diverse that even after multiple visits, the appeal refuses to wane.
I am really hooked to the French capital. Every time I visit Paris, I rediscover it in a new way. The city is a world of its own and what a beautiful world, I must say! Paris is blooming with art, music and fashion, even a stroll through the Parisian streets is so rejuvenating. Or simply sitting at a bistro and watching life pass by on a beautiful day is such an experience worth cherishing. And do I even need to say that the fashion capital of the world is a shopper’s paradise?
I find Spain a perfect blend of history and natural beauty. I remember a couple of years back, we were holidaying in Madrid, and I was so enamoured with the sights and sounds of the city that I extended our stay by a few days. It’s a very unique place in the sense that very few places can flaunt an amalgamation of Arab and European architecture and culture.
I prefer a relaxed and spaced out vacation instead of breezing pass half a dozen places in a jiffy. A holiday soothes your nerves, helps you feel relaxed and should be an ideal time for family bonding. I feel that is the beauty of vacationing.
I am keen to visit Rome and the Vatican during my next trip to Europe. And as the saying goes, “Rome was not built in a day,” and in the spirit of these famous words, I firmly believe Rome cannot be explored in a day. I will make sure that it is a long Roman holiday for me and Goldie, my husband.
The Vatican has a charm of its own and I hope to completely soak in its spiritual aura. If I am lucky I might catch a glimpse of the Pope too!
