Film: Ramona & Beezus
The adventures of young Ramona Quimby (newcomer Joey King) and her older sister Beezus (Selena Gomez) come to life in this movie based on the stories written by the popular author Beverly Cleary.
When Robert Quimby (John Corbett) loses his job, the mischievous child takes it upon herself to raise money for the family, as to improve the tight situation at home. Ramona’s vivid imagination, boundless energy and accident-prone antics keep everyone she meets on their toes and gives the audience a hilarious treat. The movie has a strong cast of well-known stars like Gennifer Goodwin, Josh Duhamel and Sandra Oh.
The performance of Joey King is simply fantastic, and makes you feel like you’ve entered the mind of a 6-year-old. Selena Gomez has played her role of being an older sister very well, but Gennifer Goodwin grabs the spotlight of playing an aunt who is extremely attached to her niece.
Elizabeth Allen, who has directed movies like Aquamarine, delivers yet another impressive film. Except for the song, ‘Live like there’s no tomorrow’ performed by Selena Gomez And The Scene, there isn’t any music track which can get you hooked.
This movie is a must watch for all families and has a perfect mix of romance, humour and drama. After an hour-and-a-half, you will surely end up with a smile on your face.
