As the world applauds another Sallu triumph in Bodyguard, leading lady Kareena Kapoor is enjoying a quieter, but no less spectacular, kind of success. Bodyguard’s historic opening has ensured that the film's earnings will cross the `100 crore mark, but what trade watchers are waiting to see, is if it crosses the `200 crore mark — set by Kareena’s own 3 Idiots.
“Frankly, Kareena is now fighting with herself for a place at the top,” says a trade guru. “She is the only actress with a `200 crore grosser (3 Idiots) and another `100 crore earner (Golmaal 3) to her name. There is no reason why Bodyguard won’t cross the `100 crore mark in its first week itself."
Whether it will surpass the collections for 3 Idiots remains to be seen, but Kareena doesn’t want to talk numbers, saying, "Inshallah, the film should only grow bigger.”
