Champ says no to Ferrari move
Ferrari’s re-signing of Felipe Massa for a single year deal for 2013 sparked speculation that the Italian team are lining up a big name for the following year, and Sebastian Vettel tipped for a dream move to the most successful Formula 1 team in history.
The German star, however, poured cold water over the suggestion immediately after winning his fourth successive race of the season at the Buddh International Circuit on Sunday.
“To set the record straight, there is no such agreement (with Ferrari). I seriously don’t know where it came from. A lot of questions have been arising again and again just because it appeared in some bull**** press. At the moment, I am really happy in Red Bull and they are 100 per cent behind me,” said Vettel.
The reigning champion attributed his brilliant run in the second half of the season to Red Bull’s work ethic. “All of us in the team are working hand-in-hand together — if we are at the track or back in our base at Milton Keynes everyone is pushing hard. That’s why we were able to improve the car every day.
“Today’s race was fantastic and the crew did a superb pit-stop. It takes a lot of discipline and focus from everyone. We are just focusing on the moment, not thinking about the title or next week’s race. I think that’s the difference,” said added.
Vettel’s second Indian GP triumph helped him emulate Ayrton Senna’s feat of leading every lap for three consecutive races. The 25year-old said it was special to be mentioned in the same breath as legendary Brazilian.
“We all will remember Ayrton forever, not just because he was successful and he has these kind of numbers speaking for him but he was a great person so I am very happy to achieve what he did,” said Vettel, who managed his soft tyres impressively for 33 laps before changing to the prime compound.
