Clinic a boost for riders
After giving a chance to Indian racers to taste action in Yamaha R15 one make races, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. conducted riding clinic at Madras Sporting Club from Sunday and Tuesday. The clinic was conducted in association with Yamaha Motor Co., Japan.
Yamaha had specially invited former GP rider Osamu Miyazaki to conduct the clinic in India and share his knowledge with young riders. The clinic was conducted for a batch of 24 riders to ensure sufficient time for theory and practical training.
The riders were trained on basic bike check up, Daytona racing kit parts, correct riding posture, the right racing line, braking, cornering, etc in detail. The clinic helped them gain knowledge about proper riding techniques and improve upon their skills.
All the riders participating in Yamaha R15 one make race championship and riding clinic will be evaluated on the basis of their performance. The best performing riders (one from each class: 1-Novice and 1-Expert) will get exposure to international competition, as they would be given a chance to represent India and participate in the Yamaha Asean Cup race to be held in Malaysia next month.
The overall objective of these activities is to develop excellent riders and eventually produce GP riders from the country. Speaking on the occasion, Yutaka Terada of India Yamaha Motor said: “Motor sport has always been an integral part of Yamaha’s corporate culture since the company’s founding and is a way of expressing the ‘spirit of challenge’ that it values so highly. We plan to inculcate the true racing spirit among the Indian biking enthusiasts and aim to take the racing culture to new heights.”
“Doni Tata, a rider from Indonesia who made to GP, started his career as a rider in Indonesia Yamaha cup race. With his excellent performance, he got a chance to participate in the Yamaha Asean Cup race, where he proved himself and which led him to all Japan championship and later to the Grand Prix 125cc, 250cc and 600cc categories. We also expect some Indian riders to follow his footsteps and bring laurel to the country,” he added.
The riding clinic was aimed at providing true experience of racing instinct and unmatched performance to young biking enthusiasts.
To make their experience more exciting, the YZF-R15s were modified with Daytona racing kit. The kit includes racing exhaust system, racing ECU (engine control unit), high lift cam shaft and petal shaped large disc.
