Formula One: Force India's Di Resta not thinking about pouring offers

With reported interests from McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari, Sahara Force India’s Paul di Resta seems to be the most sought-after F1 driver in the paddock.

Mercedes team’s chief executive officer Nick Fry even went on record to admit that Di Resta is on England-based team’s radar as potential replacement for Michael Schumacher, who is likely to announce his retirement for the second time in his career at the end of the season. But the Scottish racer says it’s too early to decide about his plans for 2013.

“There are a lot of media reports linking me to various teams. But at the moment, my only aim is doing well at Force India and developing the car further. Obviously every driver would like to be in a winning team,” Di Resta told this newspaper from Valencia, the venue of the eighth round of the F1 championship.

At the previous round in Canada, Di resta had a stupendous qualifying result, but failed to convert the season-best eighth place start into valuable points. He finished just outside the points position in 11th.

Di Resta says the qualifying session is going to be crucial again at Valencia this weekend. “It’s always important to have a good spot on the starting grid of street circuits where overtaking is tricky. I am looking forward to continue my good run at qualifying sessions,” he added.

With seven different winners in seven GPs, the ongoing season is touted as the most unpredictable in F1 history. Di Resta’s teammate Nico Hulkenberg said Force India’s turn to be on the top step of the podium is not far away.

“We are showing improvements every weekend. Sauber and Williams are the teams we have been compared with all this while. As they are scoring podiums regularly, I’m sure Force India’s time will come soon. I don’t really know what factor makes this season so unpredictable.

May be it has something to do with the Pirelli tyres. Its behaviour on different temperatures seems to be difficult to judge,” said Hulkenberg.
