It is not the best of seasons for me: Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton doesn’t like beating around the bush. When asked to sum up the season so far, the Briton said it loud and clear, “My driving has been the biggest hazard.”

Hamilton, who is currently placed fifth in the championship with 202 points, had a rollercoaster of a year with array penalties from the stewards. The three-place grid penalty for ignoring the yellow flag during the Indian GP practice session was his sixth this season.

Hamilton said his biggest priority for next year was to stay away from stewards’ office. “It’s not been the best of seasons for me, lots of ups and downs. Our McLaren cars were not as consistent as Red Bull’s but the team did a fantastic job to get us where we are, the second fastest team. And we managed to split the Red Bulls which no one else did it this year,” the 2008 champion said.

The 26-year-old who recently split uo with his long-term girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, however, is keen to make changes to get back to winning ways.

“Life is like a puzzle, you just have to get things in place. Formula 1 is a massively competitive sport where you have to have clear thoughts. You just have to live and breathe F1. There is no room for anything else. So I plan to eliminate everything else in my life but anything that can be a distraction,” he added.

Hamilton and Ferrari driver Felipe Massa are not in talking terms since their collision during the Singapore GP. And on Sunday, they did it again when Hamilton tried to overtake the Brazilian. Massa was handed a drive-through for the incident, but he retired after breaking his suspension on a kerb.
Hamilton said Massa gave him no space.

“I tried to come out of the line because it did not look like he was going to give me any space, and we collided. I am really sorry for my team,” he added.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
