Tintu lands maiden Asian GP gold

Talented middle distance runner Tintu Luka came up with a stupendous performance to clinch her maiden gold in the Asian Grand Prix at the Nehru Stadium on Wednesday.

The P.T. Usha ward, who missed the previous leg at Bengaluru due to indisposition, came roaring back to win the 800m event in style. The Kerala girl completed the race in 2:03.67seconds.
Triple jumper Renjith Maheshwary, who was expected to complete a treble, had to settle for silver. Renjith who touched the 17-metre mark in the previous leg, managed only 16.60m. China’s Wu Bo reigned supreme with an effort of 16.73m.
Earlier, Krishna Poonia notched India’s first gold of the day, and her third in the Indian GP. She hurled the discus to a distance of 59.94 on her final attempt.
