We will fight till last lap for Alonso: Ferrari chief
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo vowed his team will fight to the last lap of Formula One's season to seal the drivers' championship for Fernando Alonso.
Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel leads the standings by 13 points from Alonso after the pair finished second and third respectively in the United States Sunday ahead of the final round in Brazil this weekend.
"Now we go to Sao Paolo, Brazil with the will to win, knowing that we will fight for it right to the last kilometer of the last lap of the race at Interlagos," di Montezemolo said in a message to Ferrari's employees published on the company's website.
"I know it will be very tough, but I and all of us believe we can do it."
If Alonso wins in Brazil, Vettel will be sure of the title with a fourth-place finish, while even a retirement for Vettel would still require the Spaniard to make the podium.
Both drivers are fighting for their third world title, and Vettel has a chance to become only the third man to win the championship three years straight.
