Sensex up 13 pts in early range-bound trading
Mumbai, July 29: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex today rose by almost 13 points in early range-bound trading, as funds and speculators kept their positions restricted on last session of monthly expiry in the derivatives segment.
The 30-share index, which had lost 120.24 points in the previous session, was up by 12.77 points or 0.07 per cent at 17,970.14 points after declining to 17,918.10 points.
The wide-based National Stock Exchange index, Nifty was up by 4.05 points to 5,401.60 points after dropping to 5,381.60 points.
Brokers said today being the last session of the monthly expiry in the futures and options segment on the National Stock Exchange, funds as well as retail investors preferred to keep their commitments restricted, and even reduced their positions.
Among major gainers, Reliance Industries was up by 0.39 per cent to Rs 1,024.90, Maruti Suzuki rose by 0.
