Sensex closes 124 points lower, RIL, L&T drag
Mumbai, July 28: A benchmark index for Indian equities closed 124 points lower as selling intensified in the last hour of trade.
Heavyweights Reliance Industries and L&T dragged the index.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,077.85 points, closed at 17,952.83 points (provisional), 124.78 points or 0.69 percent down from its previous close at 18,077.61 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty ended 0.67 percent in the red at 5,394.35 points.
Broader markets indices also closed in the red, with the BSE midcap index 0.24 percent down and the BSE smallcap index 0.17 percent lower.
