Army School, Johnson, MGM, Gurukul in semis

Jan. 8: Combined efforts by Varun Chitan and Shawya Thapa helped Army School book a semifinal berth defeating Kendriya Vidyalaya 35-10 in the boys’ basketball event of the DC Inter-Schools Sports Meet being held at Indus World School on Saturday.

Despite Jithin pocketing 10 points for KV, Army School hoopsters ruled all through. The quick paced game saw Shawya score 12 points while Varun contributed 10 for the winners.

In another closely fought thriller, Johnson Grammar overpowered Indus World School 22-20. The competition of equals had both teams fighting for points, which were neck to neck till the last quarter. Manish and Preetish chipped in 10 points each for Johnson Grammar.

Gurukul S.S.C. and M.G.M. were the other two teams which made it to the last four.

In the girl’s category, St Pious outplayed St Joseph’s, King Koti, 16-12 in a keen encounter. Madhulika and Manisha scored eight points each for the winners. However, it was curtains for Indus World School, who went down to Future Kids 8-13. Likitha was the top scorer for Future Kids with eight points while Meghana chipped in with with five.
