Kabaddi sides, Vijender come out on top
Guangzhou, Nov. 26: Indian boxing pin-up Vijender Singh strolled to gold at the Asian Games on Friday, as China’s classy Zou Shiming retained his light-flyweight title. The Olympic bronze medallist cruised to a 7-0 victory over Uzbekistan’s Abbos Atoev, much to the delight of India’s vocal band of supporters.
However, two other Indian finalists well beaten on the last night of boxing action.
In a one-sided light-welterweight final, Kazakhstan’s Daniyar Yeleussinov outclassed Santhosh Kumar 16-1, while Syria’s Mohammad Ghossoun beat Manpreet Singh in winning the heavyweight crown 8-1.
Indian asserted their supremacy in kabaddi by winning both golds. While the women trounced Thailand 28-14, the men managed to prevail over Iran 37-20.
