Zubair, Azher, Varun take five apiece; Nitesh hits a century
A five-for by Varunaditya, and a half-century by C.V. Anand ensured that Secunderabad Club beat Roshanara by 25 runs in an ‘A’ division one-day cricket league championship match. Secunderabad, who batted first, managed to put up 247 on the board, with Anand helping himself to 75 runs. Nayan took 4 for 26 for the bowling side.
In reply, Roshanara came close but didn’t go all the way as they were all out for 222. Varunaditya dismissed half the side for 58 runs. In another match, Nitesh Reddy and Irfan were the stars as Victory CC put in an all-round performance to beat Team Kun by 56 runs. Nitesh made a sublime 105 as Victory, who batted first, managed 220.
Kun, chasing 221, folded for just 164 as Irfan took six wickets giving away only 21 runs.
In a match dominated by bowlers, Sourthern Stars cruised to a 35 run victory over Rushi Raj. Batting first, Southern Stars were limited to an ordinary 165 for 7 by Rushi, thanks in large part to Salam Bin Yousuf’s 5 for 42, but it proved to be more than enough for them.
Chasing 166, Rushi’s batsmen fell like sitting ducks, handing their opponents a 35-run victory. Zubair and Azher took five wickets apiece for the bowling side.
In a low scoring encounter, S.T. Ramu put in an all-round performance as Gouds XI made easy work of chasing a small target set by AB Colony. AB colony, who batted first, managed only 143. Ramu who took 4 wickets for Gouds, scored 44 not out to help his side chase down an easy target with eight wickets to spare.
