Share pictures on the go

Mobiles have surely changed the way we click pictures. The quality of pictures has also significantly improved over the years. In fact, for most people in India, the only camera they have is the in-built mobile phone camera. It would not be completely crazy to say that the convergence of mobile phones and cameras has truly taken place.

In the good old days when mobile phones were more basic, the only way to share pictures was to connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable and then email them. Then came Internet and email enabled phones and suddenly it became possible to instantly share pictures from your mobile phone with the rest of the world. Today we live in the age of social networking and our lives and social circles completely revolve around social websites.
One of the easiest ways to instantly share your pictures with the rest of the world through the social website of your choice is using this very cool application called Instagram. This free app works only on the iPhone platform (development of the other platforms may happen in the near future) and makes it very easy to share your pictures with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Flickr and other social websites.
Instagram also allows you to do basic editing of your pictures and add some cool special effects to them before sharing them with the world. The best feature about Instagram is that it adds a special social networking element to your pictures. It also allows you to tag your location to your photos and share them on the Instagram network.
Obviously, if you want to keep your pictures private or share them with only certain people, Instagram gives you that option as well. Sharing pictures with your friends or people close by has never been easier. On the flip side, Instagram allows you to see pictures of other people who are close to you too. Imagine going to the local shopping mall or in your college and being able to see all other shared pictures of that area. Although this tool opens up various privacy issues, but it definitely adds a very interesting twist to social networking on the go! And by the way, did I mention that Instagram is completely free?! So go and get it.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
