Andy Murray wins US Open title beating Novak Djokovic

Andy Murray became the first British man since Fred Perry in 1936 to win a Grand Slam title by taking the US Open crown with a 7-6 (12/10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 victory Monday over Novak Djokovic.

The 25-year-old Scotsman, who had lost in his four prior Grand Slam finals, collected a top prize of $1.9 million.

Murray became the first man since John McEnroe in 1980 to win the first two sets, lose the next two and win the fifth to claim a US Open title.
