Rishika enter final of ITF Women
Rishika Sunkara kept herself in line for a double in the NBCC ITF Women's tournament at BTA courts here today.
In the singles, Rishika beat Prarthana Thombare 7-5 6-1 to set up a final clash against Hong Kong's Katherine IP while in the doubles she along with Rutuja Bhosale got the better of Prarthana Thomabre and Nidhi Chilumula 6-3 6-4.
Prarthana led 4-2 in the first set and made it 5-3 but only to squander the chance playing some defensive tennis as Rishika grabbed opportunity to wrap up the first set.
There was no stopping Rishika in the second set as she dished out some attacking tennis to register the comfortable win.
Meanwhile, unseeded Katherine IP also made the final with a 7-6 (4) 6-1 win over Shweta Rana.
Katherine's ability to retrieve virtually every ball put Shweta under pressure as the she mixed the odd angle and variation to win the game.
Katherine's game kept frustrating Shweta and the lack of patience was evident in the second set.
On a fine run this season, Rishika would aim for a second title tomorrow when she and Rutuja Bhosale face the challenge from Kyra Shroff and Aranxta Andrady.
