‘London is home to me after Mumbai’

I call myself a smart traveller. If I need to take a break from my hectic schedule, I prefer going to a place where I am disconnected from the world. I switch off my phone, put my legs up and enjoy a martini. On the other hand, if I were in a

discovery mode, I would plan a trip where I can engage in outdoor activities. If I am in a particular city for professional commitments, I don’t have much free time. But I ensure that my manager draws up a basic itinerary in case I get a chance to visit places of my interest.
I was in London for one of my films recently and the shooting was delayed due to my co-star’s sudden injury. I took the Tube and visited the Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square in the time I had.
London is a paradise for travellers. For me, no other city on the planet has multiple recreational offers like London does. It’s a far more happening, culturally diverse and historic city. I have an emotional connect with the city. London is home to me after Mumbai. It is a city that never sleeps. London’s vibrant club scene puts the city on the map as the capital of cool. Superclubs like Ministry of Sound, Fabric and Heaven are among the biggest and best known places to party. Everything you could possibly want is right down the street from where you are staying. From top London dance clubs to theatre, movies, shopping, pubs, live entertainment, and family fun are all on the menu when the sun sets.
I visited Madam Tussuads for the very first time and whilst looking at Hrithik Roshan’s wax statue. I got so lost in the realistic artwork that I almost stood standing next to his statue for 20 minutes without realising that onlookers thought I was a wax statue too and started clicking my pictures. I still have a hearty laugh thinking about that.
Accommodation in Central London is usually more expensive so staying a bit further out can be a money saver. Go visit Oxford Street for some amazing shopping.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
