Daughter nudged me on: Gautami

After staying away from the small screen for almost six years now, Gautami Kapoor seems ready for a comeback. The actress plays the mother of a seven-year-old in Zee TV’s Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi.

The actress had taken a sabbatical to play a full-time mother and homemaker. “My day used to start at 5 am. I used to drop the children off at school and come home and get busy with the housework. Once the children were back from school, it used to be hectic again. I used to retire to bed by 9.30 every night,” she says.
It was in fact, Gautami’s daughter who nudged her to take up acting again. “My daughter told me how much she loves watching me on TV. She made me a card that had a picture of me on a TV show. I took that as a hint and started watching more television to keep myself updated about the kind of shows on air these days,” she says.
But it wasn’t just her daughter. Her husband was very supportive too. “Ram told me to go out there and have fun. He wanted me to enjoy myself after such a long break,” says Gautami who loves being called Mrs Ram Kapoor. But she admits that she barely watched her husband’s show Bade Acche Lagte Hain. “It used to air at 10.30 and I used to be in bed by 9.30. So I hardly got a chance to watch it. But from what I saw, I really liked what he did on the show,” she admits.
There has been a buzz that Gautami has been approached to play a role in Pavitra Rishta. “Everyone keeps asking me about this, but I have no clue about it,” she asserts.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
