Rosid-Roli: The hottest jodi

Manish Raisinghani and Avika Gaur, best remembered as Anandi of Balika Vadhu, star as Siddhanth aka Rosid and Roli in Sasural Simar Ka (SSK) and have sent the TRPs soaring because of their chemistry of late.

The show otherwise might have seen ups and downs on the TRP charts, but the audiences have reacted very well to this jodi.
Considering their unusual pairing on screen as well as off screen, with Avika being 14 and Manish being 33 in real life, they essay roles which require them to be 18 and 23 respectively. Despite their age difference, audiences say their chemistry is rocking and has a huge fan following on the Internet as well. “Initially a lot of people were skeptical about our pairing. But the unusual aspect has worked wonders for us and our well-wishers have showered us with their love and support,” says an overwhelmed Manish. Fans have made music videos of their scenes from the show, with romantic tracks to go along with it, which are already quite a hit on the web. “From day one, each scene has been captured and arranged systematically with scene numbers. It has 5,000 plus hits per scene already which amounts to a good 3 lakh plus views,” adds Manish. And there’s more to this. Apart from the growing fan base, Manish and Avika have given the other lead couple of Dipika Samson and Shoaib Ibrahim, who play Prem and Simar in SSK, huge competition, who have fallen behind on the popularity ratings. Some say it could be due to Avika’s massive fan base during the Balika Vadhu days. Considering Dipika essays the title role, we wonder what she has to say about this.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
