Exploring the curves with a brush
In an attempt to show that nudity is not vulgarity, artist Mukesh Singh has come up with 13 paintings exploring his thoughts.
“We all love to catch a glimpse of a beautiful, curvaceous body, but we shy away from admiring the same due to our cultural or societal barriers”, says Mukesh Singh, whose paintings titled — “Mysterious Curves” were recently displayed at India Habitat Centre.
Mukesh Singh’s paintings depict a woman’s body in different postures with a careful mix of colours. So, why did he choose such a bold theme for his art pieces?
“Feminine beauty has always been one of the greatest sources of inspiration for artists. The main criterion of choosing a female body is not the fact that how beautiful or charming they are. The nude, in essence, captures humanity across the ages. So, I didn’t discover curves; I only uncovered them in my own style”, he says.
Talking further about the thin line between nudity and pornography, Mukesh says, “The thin line is of the facial expressions and body postures that distinguishes the two.”
Mukesh says that the theme of human body provides a lot of space to experiment. “I am planning to explore it for my future works as well,” he concludes.
