Pubs make residents’ lives miserable
The residents of Bro Maganza Road off St Mark’s Cross Road have a miserable time on weekends when other Bengalureans relax and enjoy themselves.
For, walking or driving along this stretch of road means encountering youngsters and college student gangs lounging on the narrow road or sitting on their parked vehicles often boozing away with liquor bought from the nearby Deewars and Noon Wine shops. Residents find it uncomfortable to walk down the road or to allow children to play outside.
Minna Khanna, who has been living in the neighbourhood for nearly 15 years, says the youths drink and even dine sitting on their bikes and throw the plastic bags and other waste on the road.
Since, the area is located adjacent to St Mark’s Road and in the heart of the city, several commercial establishments, restaurants and eateries have come up in the area. These establishments must provide parking for their clients instead of forcing them to park on the road side, said another resident of the area.
The haphazard parking blocks the movement of residents of the locality. The road has been dug up on one side obstructing the movement of vehicles further.
Repeated complaints to the police authorities to prevent indiscriminate parking and to BBMP authorities not to allow dumping of waste here has only fallen on deaf ears.
