Barfee’s a sweet tale, says Ranbir
Even though the theme of Barfee had everyone thinking that it would deal with an intense subject, Ranbir Kapoor himself describes it as much-needed comic relief after a spate of intense films such as Rajneeti and Rockstar. The news comes as a surprise given the speculation that has been doing the rounds for quite some time. “It is sad to see such loose statements being made about Barfee, because actually it’s a sweet, heartwarming, romantic comedy. Some people are just assuming things when the fact remains that it is a complete fun film,” says a slightly miffed Ranbir.
Perhaps director Anurag Basu’s portfolio of serious films opened the floodgates to the rumours. Says one of Ranbir’s co-stars in the film, “Anurag has made intense dramas such as Life In A Metro, Gangster and Kites in the past, which probably led people to assume that Barfee too would follow a similar route, more so because Ranbir plays a deaf and mute character in the film.”
Well, bitter or sweet, we only hope this Ranbir-Priyanka outing makes us all forget the horrors of Anjaana Anjaani.
