India to grow at 7.2% in 2009-10

New Delhi ,Feb. 8: Government on Monday said that the GDP will grow by 7.2 per cent in 2009-10 due to robust growth in the industry. In 2008-09 economy had grown by 6.7 per cent,  slowest in six years. Most economists are projecting a GDP growth of eight per cent or above in the next fiscal. However they believe that conditions are still not ripe for a complete withdrawal of the stimulus package.

New Delhi ,Feb. 8: Now you can pay Rs 25 extra and receive delivery of your LPG cylinder in three hours! If not delivered on time, avail a discount of Rs 50.
To improve the delivery time of LPG cylinders, the petroleum ministry has approved a scheme, where customers who pay Rs 25 extra will get it within three hours.

M&A activities see upward rise

New Delhi, Feb. 8: Merger and acquisition activity in the country more than doubled in the first month of 2010 as deals worth nearly $3 billion (about Rs 13,950 crore) were announced amid improved signs of liquidity, a study said.
According to the monthly deal report of VCEdge, a financial research provider, the M&A deal value during January 2010 stood at USD 2.8 billion, a whopping 126 per cent rise over the same period last year.

Sensex ends flat after huge swing

In Asia, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng hit a five-month low while Japan’s Nikkei hit a one month low as FIIs unwound the dollar carry trade and uncertainties continued over the eurozone sovereign debt crisis.

Adani power scraps pact with Gujarat

Ahmedabad , Feb. 8: Adani Power, which had agreed to supply power to Gujarat Government for 25 years at the same price may be thinking of scrapping the agreement, sources say. The company had entered into an agreement with Gujrarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) to supply 1,000 mw power at Rs 2.35/unit for twenty five years.

Valentine roses keep Tamil Nadu farmers busy

Chennai ,Feb. 8: The Kharif harvest is long over and the Rabi crop is yet to be plucked, but Kaniappan, a farmer in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu has just finished probably his busiest week of the year.
For a week, he hired ten more employees in addition to his regulars. These men carefully sifted through the field, cutting stems 40-80 cm long. These were packed carefully and sent to the collection center — where they were then refrigerated and put on aircraft at the Bengaluru airport.

Maruti eyes 100% jump in exports
