Six Naxals, including two women cadres, were killed in an encounter in the early hours of Sunday near Gadchiroli in eastern Maharashtra, the police said.

An exchange of firing has been going on between CRPF jawans and Maoists in the Kaneri forest near Pendhri in Dhanora taluka of the district since early morning on Friday, police said.

The police’s investigations into the bomb blast in Gadchiroli have indicated that a camera flash was used to trigger the blast.

IB sources in Gadchiroli told this newspaper that a major attack on security agencies was being planned by the Naxals since the last two months.

The 12 deceased killed in Gadchiroli Naxal attack were from the 192 Battalion.
The bus was part of a fleet of the CRPF vehicles that were en route to a civic action programme in Gatta village.
