‘Traffic snarls reflect growing prosperity’

The Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit while speaking at a seminar organised by the Ficci organisation on Tuesday stated that: “Long traffic snarls at busy intersections in the city may be a nightmare for motorists but the choked roads, in a way, reflect growing prosperity of citizens in Delhi.”

Quid pro quo to Pak on 26/11 team

India has agreed “in principle” to allow a commission from Pakistan to question Mumbai witnesses of the 2008 terror attack, but a final view on their visit will be taken after Islamabad responds to a similar request put forth by New Delhi. Passengers on long routes stranded

Thanks to the “rail roko” on Tuesday, the Secunderabad station was full of commuters in the morning, waiting for news about their trains. The passengers arrived at Secunderabad from other places and there were also many waiting for their trains since Monday night. Though the South Central Railway had appointed a help-desk for the passengers, it could not provide much help to the long-distance passengers.

Telangana activists lay rail siege

Telangana activists on Tuesday brought train services in Telangana to a halt as they blocked rail tracks all over the region. As a result, five long-distance trains were stopped at various stations for 12 hours by the authorities and six express trains were detained by agitators.

Andhra plant work halted
