Hearings at Saket court start Aug. 28
There is more good news for litigants in Delhi as the sixth district court complex at Saket, touted as Asia’s biggest court complex, would become operational from August 28.
The Indian judiciary, one of the best legal systems of the world, which is at present battling with lakhs of pending cases will get a boost to clear its backlog and provide speedy delivery of justice to the litigants.
An official communiqué released here said, the Saket district court complex would have 26 civil and criminal courts pertaining the jurisdiction of South and South-East districts.
The seven-storey building has 80 courtrooms and 92 chambers for judges with all facilities. It also has 666 lawyers’ chambers and 128 residential houses for judges.
Earlier, 42 civil and criminal trial courts of New Delhi, South and South-East districts were located in the Patiala House courts.
Now, only New Delhi district will stay with the Patiala House Court Complex and the courts of other two districts will be shifted to the new building at Saket.
However, several public prosecutors of the courts, which would be shifted to the new complex, are unhappy over the alleged lack of proper office space for them.

The public prosecutors are the representative of the states. No court can run without proper cooperation from the public prosecutors. It seems not providing proper space at the new court is the dadagiri of judicial officers. The ego and the judicial activisiam should be curtailed . Govt should intervene at this stage and proper space should be given to the PPs for proper prosecution of the cases.
