Road rage claims life of loan agent
A 32-year-old loan agent purportedly became a victim of road rage in Vikaspuri on Monday afternoon when four assailants travelling in a Santro car hit his Honda City car and stabbed him to death following an argument.
The deceased, Hemant Gupta, 32, had left his H-169, Vikaspuri residence in his black Honda City car for his office at Dwarka. Gupta worked as a loan agent for a multinational bank. “Eyewitnesses told us that a white Santro rammed into his vehicle near Keshavpur depot at around 12 pm today. Four occupants got out from the car and an argument ensued between them and Gupta,” a senior police official said.
In the ensuing scuffle, one of them took out a knife and stabbed Gupta in his hand. When Gupta resisted, the other occupants joined in and brutally stabbed him in the chest and left him bleeding. “Eyewitnesses told us that a crowd had gathered at the spot but no one mustered the courage to save Gupta,” the official said.
A PCR call was made by a bystander and Gupta was rushed to Sehgal Nursing Home where he was declared brought dead. “It seems to be a case of road-rage. We have got the registration number of the Santro car and it has been verified. A team has been formed to track down the vehicle and the assailants,” deputy commissioner of police (west) V. Renganathan said.
The DCP added that Gupta could have been murdered out of personal enmity. “We are recording the statement of his family members, relatives and friends,” he said.
