School told to roll back fee hike, says govt
The city government has informed the Delhi high court that it has complied with its order by asking a private school here to rollback the “arbitrary” hike of `400 in tuition fees.
“The respondent (Delhi government) on September 2, 2011 wherein, the DoE (Directorate of Education) has issued an order to the manager of Ramjas School, Anand Parbat, to withdraw the arbitrary fee hike (of ` 400 per month per child)...,” K.S. Yadav, deputy director of DoE, said in his affidavit. The official also noted that the “excess amount” levied so far from students be adjusted in future payment of tuition fees by parents, the affidavit, filed before Justice Hima Kohli, said.
The court had earlier taken a strong note of allegations that the school, despite having surplus funds to the tune of around `5 crores, raised tuition fees by `400 and asked the DoE to get it rolled back.
