I’m a 26-year-old boy and have just completed my post-graduation. I fell in love with a girl during my college days and we were together for almost four years. But recently, her parents selected someone and want her to marry him. Since I am not well settled, we decided to break up. It’s been more than a month now, and I have started missing her. I am preparing for government jobs and am not able to concentrate on my studies. I don’t want to call and disturb her. But I want to settle down in life with a good job. Can you please help me handle this situation?

A. I think the solution to your problem is simple. If you and the girl are in love and mutually feel you need to share your life together you both could request your parents to give you some time. Parents want their daughters to live happily, comfortably, with love and dignity. If you are sure you can provide her with all that and lead a secure life, you could speak with her parents.
Also, I keep saying this to all the youth in India, that being in love is not the only quality you need to get married. When you start a family it must be in an atmosphere of joy and security. Your parents should be happy. When you bring children into the world they deserve love, security, happiness, stability, respect, culture, friendship from their parents. It’s important to lead a healthy family life in this world of insecurity.
If you think all this is possible, please go ahead. Otherwise, time will heal. Make it a habit to be happy. See the bigger picture. Make a difference with your presence whether in the life of the person you marry or where you work or as a citizen of your country. Look at things differently. All the best.
