Babus take TG Venkatesh’s comments seriously
After minor irrigation minister T.G. Venkatesh on Friday said that officials who aren’t committed should be shot dead, senior IAS officer and general secretary of the association Raymond Peter said, “Such comments will incite the public and prompt people to attack officials and create law and order problems. We have taken this issue very seriously. We will take up the issue with the Chief Minister and demand action against the minister.”
Mr Peter, who is in Vijayawada to take part in SC/ST sub-plan Cabinet sub-committee meeting, took up the issue with Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and industries minister J. Geeta Reddy and lodged the IAS officers’ protest.
Around 30 senior IAS officers, who gathered at the association office in Begumpet on Saturday, took serious exception to the minister’s remarks. They pointed out that the performance or non-performance of any official should be dealt in accordance with the law and rules and procedures of the government.
