Coaching for Cet gets 30% costlier
The new national common entrance tests for medical and engineering admissions — Neet, JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) — from 2013 have made coaching expensive. Colleges and coaching centres, which offer training for these exams at 10+2 level have increased fees up to 30 per cent saying additional syllabus needed to be covered for new tests by conducting extra classes within a limited period and they wanted provide required study material even as the state government is yet to give clarity over adopting Neet.
However, there is no confusion with regard to JEE (Main), which replaced AIEEE and JEE (Advanced), which replaced IIT-JEE. The Centre has entrusted the responsibility of conducting all these new tests to the Central Board of Secondary Education, which recently announced the schedule to this effect.
The corporate junior colleges and coaching centres were offering intensive coaching for Eamcet medical, AIEEE and IIT-JEE exams for 10+2 students from the last academic year till August-end this year, in the old format with no official announcement over holding the new tests in 2013. However, with the CBSE coming out with schedule for new tests early this month, the colleges and coaching centres have to change their “coaching strategy” all of a sudden.
While Eamcet medical coaching was solely based on state syllabus (Inter-mediate) all these year, Neet requires preparation in CBSE syllabus. According to coaching experts, there is an additional 30 per cent syllabus in Neet over Eamcet medical test and they need to conduct additional classes to finish the syllabus since only four moths is left for students to prepare for these tests.
Normally, the coaching centres finish the syllabus by December and start revision in January and February before students appear for Inter exams in March.

I am appreciating the parents of nine students and the Forum for fairness in education for filing the pe***ion in Bombay High Court .This UPA Govt. is spoiling the future of lakhs of students. The opposition is also mum about this matter as they will not gain more voter regarding this matter.Only court will help to solve this problem. What about the 2012 p***ed student fate, as per earlier norms of iitjee and aieee, students are eligible to write the exam in two times. As per new norms they are not eligible as they are not coming in 20 percentile. What they will do? Some state Boards are not conducting the improvement exam ? This is unfair and unilateral decision taken by CBSE Board and not bothering the lakhs of students future and life.At least 2012 student should be exempted from this 20 percentile norms.Kindly I request HRD Ministry and CBSE to consider my request. The forum for fairness in education and Nine student parents have taken bold and right decision. I pray the god to get the right judgement in favor of them.
