Congress will come out trumps, predicts Ravi
Ruling out the chances of a change of Chief Minister after the bypolls, AICC emissary and Union minister Vayalar Ravi said that the Congress would win a majority of seats. Mr Ravi, who came here on Sunday, met Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana.
Later, talking to newsmen at Gandhi Bhavan, he said that for the first time, the Congress in the state had put up a united fight to take up the challenge thrown by the YSR Congress. Reports suggest that the fight was only between these two parties, with the main Opposition, the Telugu Desam, not in the race, he said. “The Congress will get a majority of the seats and there is no doubt on this, we will take up an extensive review after the poll results,” said Mr Ravi.
The senior Congress leader was also critical of Team Anna members spreading canards against the Union ministers and the Prime Minister, painting them all corrupt, raking up controversies and trying to weaken India internationally. “It was almost as if they were trying to destabilise the nation. This is unacceptable,” Mr Ravi said.
