Jagan-as-CM was Moily, KVP idea, says Sharmila
Brushing aside allegations of the Congress and the Telugu Desam that Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had collected signatures of MLAs to become chief minister even before the body of their father was cremated, YSR’s daughter Y.S. Sharmila said on Sunday that senior leaders K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao and M. Veerappa Moily had wanted her brother to become the chief minister.
“In fact, it was Ramachandra Rao and Veerappa Moily who took the lead and collected signatures from legislators in a move to support the candidature of Jagan for the CM’s post,” she said. Ms Sharmila addressed a 50,000-strong gathering here at the Leela Mahal Junction on Sunday evening, the last meeting before Tuesday’s bypolls.
Sharmila: Usher in righteous politics
Accompanied by her mother Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, Y.S. Sharmila, YSR Congress' star campaigner since the arrest of her brother Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, rendered a 45-minute speech here, which received a huge response from the gathering that whistled and cheered. With her body language the same as her late father YSR, Ms Sharmila asked voters to put an end to politics of intrigue and usher in politics of righteousness and ethics.
“The people are fully aware of YSR's good heart. Those who were cowardly when YSR was alive, and those who benefited due to him are now criticising him shamelessly. If YSR was alive now, they (the Congress) would have surely put him in jail along with Jagan. The people will ensure Jagan's release and make him the CM. You have to bring the Rajanna rule, where there will be no lies and no turning backs.”
Reiterating that there was a conspiracy behind the death of YSR in the helicopter crash, she said, “You should put an end to politics involving helicopter tragedies.” Blaming the Congress, Ms Sharmila said that there was a big conspiracy behind sending her brother to jail. She also repeatedly attacked the CBI, terming it as a stooge in the hands of AICC president Sonia Gandhi.
Training her guns at actor-turned-politician K. Chiranjeevi, Ms Sharmila said that he had sold out his 16 MLAs to the Congress and sealed the fate of the Praja Rajyam. “Though he was defeated in his own native place, the people of Tirupati elected him. But, he ditched them and left them in the lurch. If I-T raids unearthed Rs 32 crore from his daughter's house in Chennai, you can imagine how much money he would have hidden outside,” she said.
Referring to the allegations of Kola Krishnamohan, Ms Sharmila said that the episode had exposed the drama of TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu. “His (Naidu’s) secret deals in foreign countries and his accounts were exposed to the public,” she said adding that it was due to Sakshi media that the murky deal had come to light. “He is even capable of managing the ED and the yellow media,” she added.
