Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Wednesday made it clear that no time frame had been set by the UPA government to make an announcement on the Telangana statehood issue.

He said that a meeting of all recognised political parties of the state to discuss the issue was not on the cards yet.

During his monthly briefing in Delhi, Shinde also denied having any meetings with Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao during the lather’s month-long stay in the national capital.

Replying to questions on the Telangana issue, the home minister said that he had been meeting Congr-ess leaders from various regions on the issue but did not think there would be a final decision before Dasara as had been claimed by the TRS chief.

“I don’t think there will be a decision before Dasara or Diwali; I never even met Mr Rao and discussed the issue. I am not aware of his statements on the issue,” Shinde said.
