‘Nadia’s mother destroyed proof’

Crime branch officers told the district sessions court for south Goa that Ms Sonia Torrado, mother of Mickky Pacheco’s deceased girlfriend Nadia Torrado, had burnt important evidence related to her daughter’s suicide, now treated as culpable homicide.

While asking the court not to give anticipatory bail to the former Goa tourism minister, the police stated that the Torrados’ maidservant had said during questioning that Ms Sonia Torrado had asked her to burn five bags containing documents and clothes of Nadia just after she had consumed rat poison. This new fact came to light when officials were probing the disappearance of Nadia’s cellphone, laptop computer and passport.
The court will give its order on the anticipatory bail plea filed by Mr Pacheco on Thursday. The court, however, denied anticipatory bail to Mr Pacheco’s former officer on special duty and right hand man Lyndon Monteiro on Wednesday. In a written statement to additional district and sessions judge for south Goa M. Deshpande, the crime branch officials said that the police needed Mr Pacheco and Mr Monteiro in custody for prolonged interrogation to throw light on the case. The investigating agency has registered a case of culpable homicide against Mr Pacheco. DIG Ravindra Yadav confirmed that Mr Pacheco and other unnamed suspects have been booked under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code.
Ms Torrado, meanwhile, has alleged that the police are continuously “harassing” her family and have moved the high court petitioning that the case be transferred to the CBI for “impartial probe”.

It is very sad. How can a mother hide what happened to a daughter. Should one not defend
your own blood. How sarcastic this whole
situation is, however bad your daughter is, but she is your own blood, you don't seem to be sad. By destroying evidence nothing is hidden from God's eyes. What this girl must have gone through. Lets pray that the truth and nothing but the truth will be made known.
