3 Armymen face inquiry in milk scam
The Army has ordered a court of inquiry (CoI) against three of its officers, including a brigadier, in connection with the milk scam in military farms in J&K.
Following complaints against three Army officers — deputy director general Military Farms, New Delhi, Brig. P.K. Tickoo, director Military Farm Col. P. Bali, director Military Farms, Western Command, S. Kashyap — a court of inquiry has been ordered, the Army sources said.
The CoI has been ordered by Northern Command Chief Lt. Gen. B.S. Jaswal after internal investigation into the multi-crore financial irregularities in supply and purchase of milk.

40kg RDX recovered in J&K

Security forces on Sunday recovered at least 40 kg of deadly RDX from a militant hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s frontier district of Rajouri.
The defence sources in the winter capital Jammu said that this was the second time in a month that such a huge quantity of explosives has been seized.
On a tip off, the troops raided a place at Nowshehra, about 140-km from Jammu, being used an a hideout by the militants and during the search the RDX was found concealed there besides more than 450 rounds of AK-47 assault rifle.

IGI: Bird movement stalls arrivals

Following increased bird activity over the New Delhi IGI airport on Sunday morning, arrival of aircraft was stopped at the third runway for about 20 minutes at about 9 am on Sunday, aviation sources have confirmed. A detailed inspection of the third runway was carried out following reports made by pilots to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) about increased bird activity.
Bird menace and the spectre of bird-hits on aircraft can cause serious damage to aircraft and endanger air safety. The government says it is taking measures to shift operation of slaughter houses from the area surrounding the IGI airport as the carcasses attract birds.

Mentally ill man attacks judge’s car

A mentally ill man on Sunday attempted to attack Justice Basudev Panigrahi who is probing the 2007 Kandhamal riots.
According to the police, the accused Sudarsan Sahoo (25) attacked Justice Panigrahi’s car with a sword at Kodala when the latter was on his way to Kandhamal in the afternoon.
The justice will hold a public hearing at Baliguda on Tuesday.
“The accused has been taken into custody and handed over Khalikote police for interrogation,” inspector in-charge of Kodala police station Paramananda Sahu told this newspaper.
In 2007, several people were injured in a communal clash at Kandhamal. The state government had ordered a judicial probe into the incident.
