BJP launches MP talent hunt
âBJPâs got talentâ and it doesnât want to go it waste. Who would have thought that a seasoned politician like Mr L.K. Advani can actually be a good mimic and a flute player or a firebrand leader like Ms Sushma Swaraj was a badminton player and used to love participating in folk dances till her college days?
Or the partyâs chief whip in the Lok Sabha Ramesh Bais is an excellent sculptor. And the party wants to tap this very talent among its MPs so that it can help the BJP in raising such ânon-politicalâ issues in Parliament as and when required.
The BJP has launched a âtalent searchâ among its MPs and this exercise would go on till August 19. The party also feels that this would give party leaders an opportunity to know each other in a more âinformalâ way and also beyond the âpolitic sphereâ.
When asked how it would help the BJP, senior leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said whenever the party would feel that an issue related to fields, including arts and culture, needs to given importance in Parliament, the party will discuss with its members who are skilled in the field so that the party can raise the issue more âeffectivelyâ.
The party has given this task to tap the talent among its members to its whips who would âinformallyâ interact with members.
During this interaction, both the leaders of the Opposition, Ms Swaraj and Mr Arun Jaitley, and NDA working chairman L.K. Advani, would also be present.
The party is of the view that these interaction would also give a chance to its MPs, old and new, to interact with the partyâs top brass in an âinformalâ manner.
For instance, not many in the party are aware of the fact that their Guwahati MP and national vice-president Bijoya Chakaraborty is also a fine lyricist and has penned lyrics for many regional films.

Corruption is endemic in Congress these days. The honest Prime Minister is a helpless onlooker to the systematic looting of public exchequer by his ruling party. If there was an alternative to Congress that party would sweep to power in the next election! Unfortunately the only other party which could have given Congress a nightmare-BJP- is itself embroiled in infighting and corruption.
