Maoists kill three in Orissa

The Maoists on Thursday struck with vengeance by killing two civilians, and a villager in a separate incident, at Langalkata village under K. Balang police station in Sundergarh district, nearly 400 km from here.
The victims were identified as Henku Singh, 55, and Birsa Singh, 43.
According to the police, a group of around 200 armed rebels came to Langalakata village early in the morning and asked five people to follow them to a nearby place to attend a meeting. A few hours later, they released three of the villagers while they killed Henku and Birsa by slitting their throats.
Sources said the red rebels in a praja court held the victims guilty of acting as police agents.
In the posters recovered from the crime site, the Maoists said the two were given capital punishments as they acted like police informers and campaigned against the Naxals.
In yet another gruesome murder, the Maoist on Wednesday night killed a villager at Oriya Pentha village under Narayanapatna block in Rayagada district. The rebels dragged out one Huika Sambru out of his village, tied his hand behind and slit his throat.

A.B. Bardhan admitted to hospital
Aurangabad, Dec. 9: CPI general secretary A.B. Bardhan was on Thursday admitted to a hospital after he complained of giddiness while addressing a farmers’ rally here.
Barely four minutes into his speech at the rally, the veteran Communist leader started feeling uneasy and sat back on a chair.
According to doctors at the Apex hospital here, the senior Left leader is running a high fever and is recuperating in the private medical facility.
Earlier during his speech, Mr Bardhan asked farmers to fight in order to retain their land that is being acquired by capitalists in the name of development.
“The farmers now have to fight for retaining the land they own, as capitalists are purchasing their land at the behest of politicians in the name of development,” he said, addressing the 28th convention of the Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sabha (ABKS) which began here.
